A second attempt at college results in success

Maria Alvarez’s first attempt at college was unsuccessful. But when she returned ten years later, she was confident that with the right support and the right resources, she could succeed. About to graduate from Malcolm X College in Chicago, she’s an honor student, secretary of student government, and active in many organizations around campus. Building on her success, she plans to continue her education, pursuing a degree to become an MRI technician. With her degree, she hopes to be able to provide services to those in need, free of charge.
