Tampa, FL, January 28, 2011 Managing all of the complex technology needs in schools today isn’t easy, especially as shrinking budgets are forcing many districts to make difficult decisions in prioritizing where the dollars are spent.
To provide a reliable, affordable solution for schools, the global education company Pearson teamed up with: Wyse Technology, the global leader in cloud client computing, to offer the digital learning solutions SuccessMaker and Waterford Early Learning via a virtual platform. Pearson will demonstrate the new offering at the: Title I Heroes of Education Expo on February 2.
Adrian Public Schools in Michigan is already benefiting from the new initiative by running SuccessMaker’s K-8 adaptive learning program on Wyse zero clients, which are personal computers free of moving parts and local storage. In Adrian’s schools, students working with their digital educational program on cloud PCs that have no storage and the operating system and software applications are streamed from a centralized location, which saves resources, cost and time for the IT staff.
“Money is tight. The overall impact for us is that we’re able to move forward and install more computers for students without adding resources,” said Adrian Schools’ Director of Technology Randy Brandeberry.
Adrian Public Schools, like so many schools nationwide facing budget cuts, was challenged with how to continue to stream multimedia applications through its technology system. Through Adriana Public Schools’ work with Pearson and Wyse, the district has reported reduced overhead and more productive, predictable technology offerings for students and staff.
“With Wyse, we’re delivering more than just proven personalized learning. Now, despite tight budgets, our schools have the ability to provide the latest in educational technology that embeds assessment and meets each student’s needs without all the costs, security risks and maintenance efforts of running the system locally,” said Bob Roliardi, president of Pearson Digital Learning.
“During these times of dealing with both the strains on school budgets and spiraling costs of managing complex IT systems, the importance of leveraging cloud technology innovations to deliver the high quality educational experience for our students on budget has never been more compelling. We joined with Pearson to deliver state-of-the-art learning platforms that are dramatically easier to deploy and manage. Our joint solutions provide the schools with an exceptional and cost-effective educational experience,” said Maryam Alexandrian, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Channels at Wyse Technology. Wyse Technology supports customers with thin, zero and cloud PC clients, all supported by a suite of virtual and management software.
