Students from Huntsville City Schools study in their cyber café, formerly known as the library, as part of the district-wide shift to digital learning in partnership with Pearson. The groundbreaking effort to overhaul the way Huntsville, Alabama’s more than 23,000 students are taught boosted enrollment and already has shown marked improvement in student engagement.

iBook for iPad Photos
One year ago, Pearson teamed up with Apple to publish a new suite of multimedia textbooks and reference titles for Apple’s iPad. The full-color books, designed for pre-schoolers, school students and learners of all ages, are available through Apple’s education channel on the iBookstore. They feature Pearson’s respected learning content brought to life with video, audio, assessment, interactive images and 3D animations.

Pearson’s 700 student textbooks in all subject areas are available through our online SuccessNet platform. This school year to-date (8/1/2012 – 1/22/2013), 6.3 million students have logged in to SuccessNet; last school year (8/1/2011 – 1/22/2012), 3.6 million students logged in. The numberstranslate to a 75% increase over last year, demonstrating the explosion of demand for digital learning in the marketplace.

Pearson’s idea Innovation Center
A collaborative design, development and research hub, the Pearson IDEA Innovation Center is centered on a usability lab and observation lounge equipped with state-of-the-art audio, video and software capabilities. In recent years, the usability lab has provided the setting for Pearson’s instructional design teams and researchers to develop and improve elementary and secondary products and technology solutions, such as SuccessMaker and NovaNET courseware, the enVisionMATH and Reading Street elementary curriculum programs which offer teachers the option of print, digital or blended instruction that tracks student performance and promotes individualized learning. The developers also have created small group and whole class instruction lessons compatible with interactive whiteboards and student response systems that include instruction, practice, collaborative vocabulary-building activities, and games.
