For the ninth time in ten years, Working Mother recognized Pearson as one of the 100 Best Companies for its dedication to family-friendly benefits, such as childcare reimbursement and resource services, flexible work programs, manager training and accountability and a company culture that encourages a healthy work-life balance.

“Approximately 60 percent of Pearson’s more than 17,000 employees in the United States are female, making the 2009 Working Mother award particularly relevant for our workforce. Pearson has a long history of supporting diversity among our employees, and national recognitions demonstrate the breadth of our commitment to our people and the communities in which we operate,” said Christine Trum, Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Pearson.

In 2009, Pearson also was named an AARP Best Employer for Workers Over 50 for the second year in a row, a Top Employer by the National Association for Female Executives and a Top Company in the media sector in the annual review for the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes.

Pearson’s investment in the education and health of its employees are fundamental elements of the company’s honored quality of life programs. Full- and part-time employees are eligible for tuition reimbursement and training opportunities. The company’s healthy living programs include a National Employee Health and Fitness Day, comprehensive health screenings, fitness and nutrition demonstrations, online classes about healthy behaviors and a national Weight Watchers program.

“As a company, we will continue to invest in policies, programs and initiatives that benefit the widest spectrum of our diverse population,” said Trum.
