Pearson Delivers Georgia Paraprofessional Assessment via Internet-Based Test

Company's Evaluation Systems Group Developed, Manages Program to Ensure That All Georgia Educators Are "Highly Qualified"

ATLANTA, Ga., and HADLEY, Mass. - Nov. 13, 2007 – Pearson's teacher licensure testing group is now delivering the new Internet-based Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators® (GACE®) Paraprofessional Assessment. The Evaluation Systems group of Pearson (formerly National Evaluation Systems) also developed and manages Georgia's overall teacher certification testing program for assessing the knowledge and skills of prospective public school educators.

The GACE Paraprofessional Assessment is designed to allow Georgia public schools to meet state and federal No Child Left Behind requirements for "highly qualified paraprofessionals." The test, now offered at approved sites as an Internet-based test, is also administered in a paper-based format on GACE test dates.

"In Georgia, we want to ensure that everyone who is involved in our students' education is highly qualified," said F. D. Toth, Ph.D., executive secretary, Georgia Professional Standards Commission. "We are pleased to extend our relationship with the Evaluation Systems group of Pearson to include the certification exam for our paraprofessional educators."

"It is exciting to collaborate with Dr. Toth and his team at the Georgia Professional Standards Commission to offer this important certification program over the Internet," said William Gorth, Ph.D., president of the Evaluation Systems group of Pearson.
