The award, presented at the AEP's Annual Educational Publishing Summit in Washington, D.C., was in the Brochure category, for "a pamphlet or booklet describing educational products or services using narrative and/or visual means, compelling its audience to get more information." The QuickReads brochure opens in the center, with one side for the product's standalone edition, the other side for the network edition, each highlighting separate features and benefits as well as the advantages of the overall program. A CD-ROM featuring a product tour is included, as are research data and testimonials. The brochure was chosen by a national panel of screening judges, including experts in graphics, marketing, and educational sales, who critiqued the entries based on creative artwork, attention-grabbing content, and overall marketing objectives. QuickReads Technology Edition is an instructional software program that helps students build fluency, comprehension, and background knowledge using Science and Social Studies content.
