Want To Do Better In College? Check Out E-Tips For A Grades, New Website Created By Students For Students Site Offers Free Information And Advice On Variety of Practical Topics Upper Saddle River, NJ - September 12, 2005 --Let’s face it: college can be a scary place. The transition from high school to college is often an intimidating and frustrating process..but it doesn’t have to be. e-tips for A grades, a new, free website from Pearson Higher Education, (www.etipsforagrades.com), takes some of the stress out of the "college experience" to help students not only succeed but also enjoy the ride. In-depth site topics include, "Navigating Your Freshman Year," "Make Your Textbook Work for You," "Tackling The College Paper," "Fishing For A Major," "Getting Through College Without Going Broke," and "Have No Career Fear." The majority of topics are based on the Students Helping Students series of books published by Prentice Hall Press, a division of Penguin Group (USA). These titles, available for purchase through the e-tips site, are all written and edited by top students and recent graduates from colleges and universities throughout the U.S. Other e-tips features include the interactive X-Change, through which students can submit their own tips, and view short video clips of other students discussing their own specific suggestions. e-tips is the latest part of Pearson Higher Education’s "First Days of Class" program, which was created four years ago to help students succeed in their college course work. As part of this program, representatives from Pearson Higher Education are teaming up with bookstores and professors around the country to help students get the most out of their new learning resources, and to demystify the process of textbook selection. Sessions will be held to explain why assigned texts and other course material were chosen; to review the most effective ways to use textbooks for maximum gain; to train students on the use of any digital media or course technologies assigned with the text; and to answer questions that students might have about their textbook purchases. Pearson’s goal is to reach over 2 million students throughout the U.S. during the 2005-06 school year. "College is an important investment for students and we want to do whatever we can to help make the experience as positive and successful as possible," said Sandi Kirshner, Chief Marketing Officer of Pearson’s Higher Education, International and Professional Publishing Group. "We’re very pleased to forge this partnership with Pearson Education and provide two unbeatable information sources in one: the Students Helping Students series and Pearson’s undeniable expertise in education and study skills," said Nancy Perlman, Vice President/Director of Intergroup Business Development for Penguin Group (USA). "This site establishes a new resource that reaches college kids directly and offers help in a fun and dynamic way." About Pearson Education
