Pearson Prentice Hall Teams with Adept Driver to Prevent Teen Auto Accidents

Publisher To Distribute Market Leading Drive Right Program With ADEPT’s teenSMART

Upper Saddle River, NJ – March 16, 2004 – Pearson Prentice Hall, the market leader in driver education, is partnering with ADEPT Driver to bring a customized video version of teenSMART, ADEPT’s research-based collision reduction program, to high school classrooms. This commitment by Pearson Prentice Hall is designed to prevent auto accidents, the number one killer of teens in the U.S.

The teenSMART classroom video footage, which supports Pearson Prentice Hall’s Drive Right materials, trains students to react quickly, look for hazards on the road, and prepares them for the unexpected. All teenSMART classroom video will be offered via DVD or VHS tapes.

In addition to the classroom version, Pearson Prentice Hall will sell a home edition of the teenSMART program though a web site designed specifically for parents, www.phschool.com/parentcenter. The home edition of teenSMART consists of a student workbook, parent guide, introductory video on DVD, and a six CD-ROM set.

Pearson Prentice Hall’s hugely successful Drive Right is the only driver education program to combine the IPDE process -- teaching students to Identify, Predict, Decide, Execute – with the innovative “Zone Control” system, which divides the road into six easily identifiable zones. Features include an improved teacher’s edition with more classroom activities; updated content incorporating the latest trends in driver education; student and teacher print support materials; and increased support with new videos. Drive Right’s student edition is also packaged with the GoDriver CD, which offers a handbook of driving regulations for all 50 states; practice tests; tips on car-related topics; and information to help parents provide practice driving.

"This agreement represents an important step forward in our ongoing efforts to educate teens about the importance of safe driving," said Rick Culp, President, Pearson Prentice Hall School. "We welcome ADEPT Driver to the team."
