Pearson Prentice Hall Publishes New Jersey Code of Criminal Justice: A Practical Guide

New Jersey Attorney/Filmmaker/Writer Kenneth Del Vecchio Creates Original And Accessible Codebook For Police Professionals And Attorneys

Upper Saddle River, NJ – March 15, 2004 – Pearson Prentice Hall, part of Pearson Education (NYSE: PSO), the global leader in educational publishing, announced today the publication of New Jersey Code of Criminal Justice, a groundbreaking book of criminal law, explaining New Jersey’s criminal offenses in an easy-to-understand, user-friendly style. Author Kenneth Del Vecchio is uniquely qualified to write this book. He is Prosecutor for the Borough of Hawthorne, NJ, an expert in criminal law, a screenwriter/director and published novelist.

New Jersey Code of Criminal Justice makes use of what Del Vecchio calls "fact patterns," or engaging fictional accounts, to unravel the mysteries of The New Jersey Code of Criminal Justice (Title 2C of the New Jersey Statutes), which contains the laws that define criminal offenses and govern what charges can be brought against someone suspected of a crime. "Fact Patterns" are referenced in the book’s practical application sections, offering guidance on how to proceed with charging potential offenders with criminal homicide, public indecency, disorderly conduct and every other crime a person might be charged with. New Jersey Code of Criminal Justice is aimed at all police officers, academy recruits, lawyers and anyone interested in criminal law.

James Batelli, Chief of Police for Mahwah, NJ, states, "One of the advantages of this type of book is that it takes a rather mundane topic such as criminal codes and explains it through real-life situations, enabling students, police recruits and attorneys to see how criminal statutes apply to specific incidents. New Jersey Code of Criminal Justice is a well-written, concise and informative book."

Del Vecchio, who has tried more than 400 cases, has also served as Prosecutor for the City of Clifton, NJ, and he received dual membership to the New Jersey and Pennsylvania bars in 1994. His films, primarily focusing on matters of criminal law, star a variety of Academy Award and Emmy winning film and television stars. His filmography includes The Drum Beats Twice, Tinsel Town, Pride & Loyalty and Rules For Men. He is a published criminal suspense novelist and has authored Revelation in the Wilderness and Pride and Loyalty.
