Pearson Digital Learning and Edustructures Bring SIF Compliance to Leading Student Information System SASIxp™ Program Component Allows for Secure, Seamless Interaction and Standards-based Data Sharing Amongst a Variety of Software Applications Mesa, AZ - January 9, 2004 - Pearson Digital Learning today announced the availability of the Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF) Agent for its SASIxp™ student information system. With this “SIF Agent,” SASIxp is the largest, most comprehensive school administrative system to comply with the recently launched SIF Compliance Program, allowing it to effectively and securely interact and share information with diverse software programs. "Pearson Digital Learning has been a leading participant in the SIF movement from the very beginning," said Kelly Goodrich, vice president of marketing. "Seamless data sharing between various programs will allow school systems to streamline operations through more efficient information management and increased data accuracy. Educators have the confidence of knowing that SASIxp, already the most widely used student information system on the market, with the SIF Agent, will now work with any other SIF compliant software without requiring any special programming or adjustments." Developed by Utah-based Edustructures, the leading SIF development and integration company, the SIF Agent for SASIxp can be installed on a single central server or locally at each SASIxp server. It regularly checks for database changes and sends any changes to a SIF Zone Integration Server (ZIS) where they are dispersed to other SIF-enabled applications, as appropriate, in real-time. A single agent is able to service an entire school district. The Pearson Digital Learning /Edustructures relationship will provide users of both companies’ products increased assurance that their products are designed and tested to work well together. Pearson Digital Learning also selected Edustructures, a market leader in ZIS development as well, to provide SIF integration and related support services to SASIxp customers. Schools must acquire an agent for each application that will participate in their SIF Zone (the grouping of SIF-related software applications). About the Schools Interoperability Framework The Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF) is a nonprofit organization driven by K-12 education technology providers and users to revolutionize the management and accessibility of data within schools, school districts, and states. SIF will enable diverse applications to interact and share data efficiently, reliably, and securely, regardless of the platform hosting the applications. SIF has united over 120 education technology providers, school districts, state departments of education, and the U.S. Department of Education in an unprecedented effort to give teachers more time to do what they do best: teach.
