Pearson Allyn & Bacon Creates Faculty Advocate Program for MyPsychLab - New Online Solution for Introductory Psychology Program Designed To Offer Adopters Peer-To-Peer Regional Support Boston, MA - January 5, 2004 - Pearson Allyn & Bacon is launching the Faculty Advocate program to help skilled adopters of MyPsychLab share their ideas and knowledge with MyPsychLab users across the U.S. MyPsychLab is a state of the art, interactive and instructive online solution for introductory psychology. Designed as a supplement to traditional lecture courses, or as an online course, MyPsychLab combines multimedia, tutorials, video, simulations, animations, tests and quizzes. Pearson Allyn & Bacon is seeking Faculty Advocates who are using MyPsychLab in creative ways, to pass on their insights to colleagues as they become part of the burgeoning MyPsychLab community. The need for peer-to-peer training will continue as the number of MyPsychLab users increase, and this program will offer the regional support educators need. Technical specialists from Pearson Allyn & Bacon, working with their sales representatives, will nominate individuals within their districts who they believe are qualified to become Faculty Advocates. Once these instructors are chosen, they will assist with training and service of MyPsychLab through peer-to-peer activities within their regions. These activities will include performing on-campus demonstrations to potential or current customers; sharing their teaching tips and best practices with new customers at academic conferences and on the MyPsychLab Web site; providing MPL customer support via phone and email; and contributing to Pearson Allyn & Bacon data collection efforts to measure the effectiveness of online learning. Faculty Advocates will be remunerated for their efforts on behalf of MyPsychLab. All nominees will be considered by a review board, and selected based on expertise and recommendations. "Faculty Advocates will be educators who combine an enthusiasm for MyPsychLab with an ability to communicate that enthusiasm to their peers," said Pamela Laskey, Executive Marketing Manager for Social Sciences, Pearson Allyn & Bacon. "We envision a network of experts willing to help MyPsychLab users continue their commitment to excellence in online learning."
