Addison-Wesley Publishes First Three Books In The Highly-Anticipated Microsoft.Net Development Series Authoritative Series, Created in Partnership with DevelopMentor, Designed to Empower Developers Boston, MA - November 14, 2002 - Addison-Wesley today announced that it has released the first three books in the highly anticipated Microsoft .NET Development Series. The first three books to publish are:
Plans for the series were announced last year when Addison-Wesley signed an agreement with Microsoft Corp. and DevelopMentor to create the Microsoft .NET Development Series. It is the only series of books fully authored and reviewed by the principal authorities and pioneering developers of the Microsoft .NET technologies. The focus of the series is centered on the design, architecture, and implementation of the Microsoft .NET initiative. "This joint series is a great resource for .NET developers and those gearing up to enter the world of .NET," said John Montgomery, group product manager for the .NET platform at Microsoft. "Coupling the .NET architects at Microsoft with the training skills of DevelopMentor means that all the technical bases, from reference to 'how-to,' will be covered." "The Microsoft .NET Series has the unique advantage of an author pool that combines some of the most insightful authors in the industry with the actual architects and developers of the .NET platform," said Don Box, an architect at Microsoft and the author of Essential .NET Volume I: The Common Language Runtime, Essential COM, co-author of Effective COM and Essential XML, and an industry-leading authority on Microsoft .NET. "The foundation of our business and its reputation is built upon the publishing of practical, cutting-edge technology titles, authored by the foremost experts in their respective fields," said Karen Gettman, Executive Editor of the Microsoft .NET Series at Addison-Wesley. "Nowhere is that foundation more apparent than with this series. We took the winning combination of Microsoft's technical talent and DevelopMentor's training expertise and combined it with Addison-Wesley's publishing acumen. The result is the creation of a series that has the potential to be the 'cornerstone' .NET reference books on every developer's bookshelf," added Gettman. Future titles in this series will include guides to the Microsoft .NET Framework's internals, such as the Framework Class Library, Windows Forms and Visual Basic .NET, as well as the C# programming language. The next books to publish in the series will be .NET Web Services: Architecture and Implementation by Keith Ballinger (ISBN 0-321-11359-4), Essential ASP.NET with Examples in Visual Basic .NET (ISBN 0-201-76039-8) by Fritz Onion and Essential ASP.NET with Examples in C# (0-201-76040-1) also by Fritz Onion. All three are scheduled to publish in February 2003. For more information on the Microsoft .NET Series, visit www.awprofessional.com.
