Pearson Looks to Digital in 2012

In a challenging education landscape beset by economic pressures in the market and structural change in the industry, Pearson, the largest education publisher and service provider, expects continued revenue growth in 2012, as it forges ahead becoming a more digital business and pushes into emerging markets. Pearson builds the expectation for revenue growth in Education in 2012 on an expectation that in its North American Education businesses, it will generate only modest growth in higher education. Will Ethridge, chief executive of North American Education, said that while textbook rentals and used-book offerings will continue to pressure sale of new print books, the move to digital holds the promise of negating those challenges.
