Pearson launches new ‘eTextbooks’ on Apple’s iBooks store

Pearson has become one of the first educational publishers to launch titles in Apple’s new ‘eTextbook’ category on its iBooks store outside the US. The publisher is launching a range of digital textbooks in the UK, Australia and Canada. The iBooks will include video, audio, 3D animations and interactive graphics, making use of the iBooks platform – and thus further blurring the boundaries between book-apps and iBooks on iOS. Pearson got early access to the new version of iBooks Author – unveiled last night at Apple’s iPad mini launch – to create the textbooks.
