Pearson Expands Successful Student Campus Ambassador Program to Private Sector Colleges and Universities

Students gain business skills and practical work experience, provide feedback on educational needs

BOSTON-April 6, 2011-Pearson, the world’s leading learning company, today announced the expansion of its popular student Campus Ambassador Program to private sector colleges and universities, giving students at these schools the opportunity to gain valuable business skills and practical work experience while providing feedback on the educational needs of students in this sector.

The Pearson Campus Ambassador program employs students from across the country to collaborate with faculty, other students and Pearson professionals to shape existing and future programs and services.

“Pearson Campus Ambassadors connect us directly with the students we serve and allow them to make a real and lasting impact on student success,” said Don Kilburn, CEO of Pearson Learning Solutions. “By extending this program to students in career schools, we’ll learn more about the specific needs of these students as we work to create and implement programs that will support their success.”

“As a Pearson Campus Ambassador, I have gained valuable experience working alongside professors, school administrators and the Pearson team to help create the best possible educational materials, which meet the needs of the institution and are also fun and engaging for students,” said Christopher Schad, student at Cypress College in Cypress, CA. “I have also learned about all of the various opportunities Pearson has for students to develop themselves. Not only can a student build their professional and career skills, but they can also continue to grow their own set of personal attributes to improve as an individual.”

Pearson Campus Ambassadors must commit to a minimum of six months of service and will assist with a variety of activities, including the development of criteria for the Pearson Prize for Higher Education; evaluating new Pearson offerings that tackle recruiting and placement issues; contributing to Pearson’s blog to share student perspectives; and assisting with initiatives that demonstrate improved effectiveness and outcomes to institutions in support of federal standards.
