Pearson Announces OpenClass Sessions for Cite 2012

More than 3,000 Installations of OpenClass to Date

DENVER—March 29, 2012—OpenClass, the first full-featured learning environment that is free, easy to use and scalable, will be featured at Pearson’s 13^th annual Cite education technology conference.

Cite 2012 will be held April 10-13 at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes in Orlando. More than 500 higher education leaders representing over 100 public and private institutions and community colleges are expected to attend.

OpenClass is delivered from the Cloud at no cost. There are no hardware, licensing or hosting costs. OpenClass promotes collaboration and communication both inside and outside the classroom through a single, integrated platform. The platform is easy to set up and begin using immediately, and its features integrate seamlessly with Google Apps for Education™.

Since launching in October, there have been more than 3,000 installations of OpenClass.

West Virginia University at Parkersburg: “OpenClass-Open Opportunity-Open Minded.” Dr. Rhonda Tracy, Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, will discuss the success of West Virginia’s Virtual Community College, which is deployed from the OpenClass learning environment. This richly collaborative learning environment helps provides credentials and skills required by the West Virginia workforce.
Abilene Christian University: “Why OpenClass – an IT, Professor and Administrator Perspective.” Kevin Roberts, Chief Information and Planning Officer; Kyle Dickson, Associate Professor of English and Director of the Digital Media Center; and Kay Reeves, Executive Director of Information Technology, discuss Abilene Christian University’s experience with OpenClass.
University of Kentucky: “OpenClass Teaching and Design Partner Experience.” Christopher S. Rice, Associate Director of Teaching & Technology at the University of Kentucky, discusses his institution’s use of OpenClass, the advantages of OpenClass vs. a traditional LMS, including key features and Google Docs integrations.
