Pearson’s “One Professor” Campaign Honors Educators Who Make A Difference
Students Share Personal Stories of Success, Inspiration
New York, NY – March 19, 2013 – Students can celebrate educators who have helped shape their lives and inspire them to succeed through Pearson’s One Professor campaign, which asks them to share their personal stories through video messages, to be featured on the campaign’s website, YouTube channel, and Pinterest channel. The campaign was co-created by Isa Adney, author of Community College Success.
“At Pearson, we believe learning is personal, and that the best learning happens when educators help students achieve more than they ever thought possible,” said Allison Jones, Director, Student Relations, Pearson. “In this fast-paced age dominated by texting, Facebook, and tweets, One Professor provides the opportunity for students to take a deep breath, reflect on how far they’ve come, and say ‘thank you.’”
Each week, new stories are shared on the One Professor YouTube Playlist, giving wide recognition to educators’ accomplishments. Professors who are honored receive a Certificate of Recognition, and students receive a #OneProf badge to display on their social media profiles.
As part of the campaign, Pearson/One Professor is partnering with Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), recognized as the official honor society for community colleges by the American Association of Community Colleges, as the lead sponsor of PTK’s Community College Completion Challenge Toolkit. The Challenge was created to encourage students to commit to completing their degrees as well as educate their fellow students about the importance of staying the course to college completion.
“Phi Theta Kappa is grateful to partner with Pearson to help drive the Community College Completion Corps initiative,” said Phi Theta Kappa CEO Dr. Rod Risley. “We also fully support Pearson’s One Professor campaign, which highlights the importance that educators play in the lives of students both inside and outside the classroom. Through Pearson we have been able to work together to create more One Professor videos by our Phi Theta Kappa members, and we hope to continue to recognize the importance of educators to the future of our students.”
