Denver, May 02, 2012 — Two instructors at Palm Beach Atlantic University and National University are the 2012 recipients of the Pearson Cite Awards of Excellence. The awards honor outstanding accomplishments in online higher education using the Pearson LearningStudio platform. As part of efforts to encourage and support innovations that drive student success, Pearson is donating $1,000 to the scholarship fund of the winner’s choice.
The awards are divided into two categories: Excellence in Online Administration and Excellence in Online Teaching.
The Cite 2012 Excellence in Online Administration Award recipient is Pat Bassett, an online math instructor and director of online learning at Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBAU). Ms. Bassett was selected for her work to increase access to online learning at PBAU, where offerings have grown from just 10 courses in 2002 to 60 today. PBAU’s online bachelor’s degree program is ranked 8th in the nation for quality of student engagement and assessment, according to U.S. News & World Report’s first ranking of online programs. Ms. Bassett has chosen the Online Ministry Scholarship at Palm Beach Atlantic University to receive her Pearson award.
The Cite 2012 Excellence in Online Teaching Award recipient is Dr. Kenneth Goldberg, an online instructor in professional studies at National University.
