FETC Conference Gets First Glimpse as Pearson Mobile Learning Meets Texting Teens at iTunes

Orlando, FL, January 31, 2011 – Students can now explore global history’s significant events, concepts, people, and places wherever they go with the new Brief Review of Global History and Geography app from Pearson, the world’s leading learning company. The Brief Review app debuts today with iPad demonstrations at the annual FETC Conference in Orlando.

Built from content in Pearson’s Brief Review of Global History and Geography high school program, Brief Review is designed as a standalone app to support any World/Global History course, or for curious teens to engage independently to test themselves on their own knowledge. The app features a variety of innovative, interactive elements designed to help high school students prepare for exams, including New York’s Regents Exam, expand their understanding of world history, and sharpen their test-taking and social studies skills.

Available for free download from iTunes, Brief Review consists of:

Diagnostic Test consisting of 80 questions that cover eight historical subject units from the Ancient World up to today
Test Review helps students assess their understanding of Global History, review their answers, and learn more to increase their knowledge.

Students get results to see how they performed across each unit, and can then decide to purchase study aid apps for those areas in which they want to improve their scores:

Quick Studies review the “big ideas” of global history through outlines, summaries, and graphic organizers.
Interactive Flashcards help students master history’s key concepts, terms, people, and places.
Quizzes allow students to practice their test-taking skills on hundreds of questions, many with primary sources, maps, and other documents.
