Workshop: The Toolkit for Building Better Learners

Dr. Veronica X. Yan, Cognitive Psychologist, USC

How can we help students master learning in the most effective and efficient ways while helping them improve their own intuition about their learning? Dr. Yan’s talk will be followed by small group work designed to apply these ideas to your specific situation.

Workshop: Brief But Spectacular

In this workshop, BLC attendees will feature their teaching innovations in a concise format, designed for maximum sharing.

Poster Session

Evenings at the BLC include a group dinner, preceded by a poster session reception. We encourage all BLC participants to submit a poster featuring an instructional idea, method or educational experiment in the general biology course on their home campus.

Poster Session

We encourage all BLC participants to submit a poster featuring an instructional idea, method or educational experiment in the general biology course on their home campus. This session is an excellent opportunity to share ideas, methods, and innovations with your colleagues.

Abstracts (150-200 words in length) must be submitted to Robin Heyden by January 27, 2017. Poster display boards (3′ x 4′) will be available to display your materials. Your display can be a printed poster or a series of images, printouts, and descriptions of your work.

Hike for Literacy

BLC participants are invited to join us for a Hike for Literacy within the scenic Tucson Mountain County Park, just steps from the JW Starr Pass Resort on Saturday, February 25, 2017.

Hikers/walkers of all experience levels are encouraged to participate in this charitable, community event. For each participating guest, Pearson will donate $25 to Project Literacy, helping to reach their goal that by 2030 no child will be born at risk of poor literacy.
